hope

i came up with the idea for the photo essay for my final project. "It seems to me that this has been a rougher winter than usual. Not just the weather, but this past week’s snow storm was an unexpected reminder that we’re not quite through it yet. Talking with friends and family, everyone seems to be really reliant on spring coming around and making things better. Emerging out of the cold and seeing life emerge all around us is always a hopeful sign and I really think people need to see that right now: Hope. People I know have lost their jobs or, myself included, are worried about losing them in the near future. The world is changing all around us as it always does, but we as humans are so reluctant to change. Unlike nature that endures changes constantly. I think that’s why we like to see the seasons change so much. It reminds us of a need for change and makes us see that life can endure it. I would like to photograph this phenomenon." i started taking pictures for it this week in the snow.

Without winter there can be no spring, so you must endure the winter. But sure enough spring does come. Flowers bloom and birds sing. Youth has the advantage of many springs to come. That's why when you get older winters seem longer because you know you don't have that many springs left and you would rather spend all the time you have left in spring. Enough said. Nice pictures.
